Bob was a cool guy. I mean he was like Dean Martin cool. His calm, slow swagger, and his slow, through a half grin, voice made him easy to be around. He and his lovely sister Martha, lived with their widowed father in Rural Hall. Bob went to school with the lot of us who have the Rural Hall, North West, NFHS background.
Bob was hanging with a bunch of us wide tire rednecks in Rural Hall one summer night when he and several others decided to go to the Reynolda Road McDonalds. The second shift was just getting off of work at the Hanes plant near North. A lady coming out of the Hanes lot ran a stop light and clipped Bob's Jeep, sending it tumbling.
Bob and another North student (Randy Tuttle NFHS 1976 or 75)
were both killed.
His family was VERY close. His death was devastating to them and his many friends.

I agree with Danny. Like Bob and Danny, I am part of the Rural Hall, Northwest, and NFHS crowd, and I remember Bob from way back. I remember him at Boy Scout Camp. I ran into Bob's dad while getting an oil change on my car, and while we had never met, he asked me if I knew Bob, and we had a good talk. Like all parents, the death of his son created a void that would never be filled.
